Overview

Explore the Ram 1500 range

Ram Trucks Australia markets the 1500 as its full-size pickup range, with grades and powertrains that change by model year. It is distinct from the heavier-duty 2500 and 3500. Consider the cab, tub, available equipment and approved load ratings of the actual Australian-delivered vehicle before deciding which accessories belong on it.

01

Full-size 1500

A pickup for daily driving, touring or work use. The 1500 is not simply a lighter trim of the heavy-duty 2500.

02

Variant matters

Powertrain, equipment and payload differ across grades and model years. Confirm the Australian specification of the truck you are buying.

03

Touring load

Canopy, fridge, batteries, passengers and towing gear can consume payload quickly even on a full-size truck.

Factory: MY26 Hurricane figures shown (GVM 3,505kg, GCM 7,713kg, 275/55R20 tyres of about 31.9"). Earlier 5.7 V8 models are plated at 3,450kg GVM and 7,237kg GCM. The Limited runs 285/45R22 tyres.
Upgraded: maximum figures with a Payload Performance GVM upgrade, including braked towing of up to 4,500kg. The kit that applies depends on your truck's variant and build date, so we confirm it when you enquire.

Figures are indicative maximums for the listed kits and Australian-delivered vehicles. Exact ratings depend on the vehicle variant, build date, compliance plate and approval path in your state or territory. A GVM upgrade does not automatically change towing or axle ratings.

Build planning

Set up a versatile 1500

A Ram 1500 build might combine protected storage, wheels and tyres, underbody protection, touring electrics or towing equipment. Decide what must stay fitted every day and what can be removable. Scope the whole package at once so a canopy, drawers and accessories do not leave too little room for people and cargo.

GVM and payload planning

Plan for passengers, luggage, accessories and towball download against the exact vehicle's payload. Ask whether a compliant GVM option exists for that variant rather than assuming a 2500 or 3500 rating applies.

Why choose a RAM 1500?

The RAM 1500 suits buyers wanting one truck to perform several roles. It can be a comfortable daily driver, tow vehicle, touring platform and recreational truck without necessarily requiring the step into a heavier 2500 or 3500. The Australian range offers buyers different approaches to performance, equipment and styling, so compare the exact vehicle and model year.

RAM 1500 modifications

Payload Performance can help develop and professionally install a complete package, planning the parts around your vehicle and how you intend to use it.

  • Suspension selected to suit how the truck sits and performs when carrying additional weight
  • Approved GVM upgrades for certain RAM 1500 applications where additional legal carrying capacity is required
  • Wheels and tyres chosen to support the vehicle's appearance and intended use
  • Bull bars, side steps, protection and exterior accessories
  • Lighting, communications, towing and touring equipment

RAM 1500 touring builds

If you're planning to tow a caravan or load the vehicle for extended touring, it's important to think about the weight of the finished truck. Passengers, tow ball mass, accessories and luggage all consume payload. Planning these elements early allows Payload Performance to recommend a more appropriate overall setup.
